About Mark William Schwickerath
Mark William Schwickerath II built a foundation in numbers before he ever set foot in a courtroom. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa in 2014. He then turned to law and completed his Juris Doctor at Drake University in 2017. That combination of accounting and legal training shapes how he approaches problems and documents alike.
After law school, Schwickerath returned to practice in Iowa. He joined Pearson Bollman Law and has worked from the firm’s regional offices. His career path has kept him rooted in the state where he trained, handling matters that often require careful analysis of financial records and corporate paperwork.
Colleagues say his background in accounting is more than a resume line. It provides a practical lens for reviewing contracts, budgets and transactional records. He is comfortable translating spreadsheets and ledgers into plain language for clients and for legal teams. That practical bent comes through in how he prepares for hearings and negotiates disputes: methodical, detail-oriented, and tied to the underlying numbers.
Schwickerath’s practice sits within a multi-office firm that serves communities across eastern and central Iowa. He has split time between the firm’s Bettendorf, Dubuque and West Des Moines offices, which keeps him close to both urban and regional clients. He is licensed in Iowa and works on matters filed in state courts and before administrative bodies when required.
Outside the office, he keeps an eye on developments in both accounting standards and state law. Those changes can affect case strategy and how financial evidence is presented. He reads professional publications and attends seminars that bridge the disciplines, and he brings that learning back to his work at the firm.
Schwickerath’s path—from accounting undergraduate to Drake Law graduate—has produced a practice grounded in technical detail and local experience. He currently practices law across Iowa from Pearson Bollman Law’s Bettendorf, Dubuque and West Des Moines offices.
