About Mark
Mark Sawyer earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Virginia in 2003, one in International Relations and the other in Psychology. He went on to study law at the University of South Carolina School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2007. His academic background combines social science and legal training, a foundation that shaped his early approach to courtroom work.
After law school he began his legal career at the Richland County Public Defender’s Office in 2007. There he worked as a staff attorney, handling misdemeanor and felony matters on behalf of clients who could not afford private counsel. The caseload exposed him to high-pressure hearings, plea bargaining and trial preparation. Those years in public defense provided regular courtroom time and a steady stream of varied legal problems to solve.
In 2014 Sawyer moved into civil practice and joined George Sink, P.A. Injury Lawyers. At that firm he took on cases involving personal injury and claims related to accidents and negligence. The change shifted his day-to-day work from criminal defense to advocating for individuals seeking compensation for physical injury, property loss and related harms. His role required coordinating with medical providers, working with accident reconstruction specialists when necessary and preparing claims for settlement or trial.
Clients and colleagues describe his approach as pragmatic. He breaks complex legal questions into concrete choices. He prepares cases for the possibility of trial while pursuing negotiated resolutions when they serve a client’s interests. His time in a public defender’s office informs how he manages investigations and interviews witnesses. He applies courtroom experience to civil litigation strategies and remains involved in the practical steps that move a case from intake to resolution.
Today he practices at George Sink, P.A. Injury Lawyers in South Carolina. He is licensed to practice in that jurisdiction and has spent his career handling both criminal matters early on and civil personal injury work more recently. He continues to represent individuals in injury claims and related civil litigation matters.
