About Mark

Mark Gray graduated from Centre College in 1987 and earned his J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1990. He has long been active in Kentucky’s legal community. His memberships include the Kentucky Bar Association, which he has held since 1990, and he is admitted to practice in state courts in Kentucky as well as before the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Gray built a practice centered on litigation. He founded Gray and White Law in 2002 and serves as a partner there. The firm’s work reflects decades of trial experience. He remains an active member of the Louisville Bar Association and participates in regional and national trial groups.

Much of Gray’s public profile comes from courtroom work and teaching other lawyers. He has been a regular speaker on medical malpractice and HMO liability issues. Topics on his roster include ‘‘Anatomy of an HMO Trial,’’ ‘‘HMO Liability Claims’’ and ‘‘Financial Incentives in HMO Claims.’’ He has also addressed jury persuasion in medical negligence actions and the tactics behind large verdicts, speaking on ‘‘The Anatomy of an Eight Figure Verdict.’’ Other presentations have covered settlement methods, class-action litigation and mock trials focused on psychological injury.

His association list reads like a map of trial advocacy circles. He belongs to the American Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Kentucky Association of Trial Lawyers and the Kentucky Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is a member of the Melvin M. Belli Society and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and he has presented at ATLA annual and regional meetings, KATA seminars and events hosted by the Louisville and Kentucky Bar Associations.

Gray’s work has an appellate component as well. Admission to the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court allows him to pursue cases beyond trial courts when necessary. Colleagues note that his speaking schedule over many years reflects practical knowledge of trial tactics, settlement negotiations and the demands of high-stakes civil litigation. He continues to lead litigation at Gray and White Law, handling medical malpractice, HMO liability, class actions and serious personal injury matters in Kentucky and on appeal where appropriate.
