About Mark D.

Mark D. Mese built a steady legal path that begins in classrooms and leads to courtrooms across Louisiana. He earned a B.S. from Louisiana State University in 1979 and followed that with an M.S. from the University of California, Davis in 1981. He returned to LSU for law school and received his J.D. in 1984.

After law school Mese entered practice in Louisiana and gained admission to multiple federal courts. He is admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Middle, Western and Eastern Districts of Louisiana, and he is authorized to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Those admissions underpin a career spent largely in the federal and state litigation arenas.

His firm affiliation dates back decades. In 1992 he became a partner at Kean Miller LLP. That title reflects long-term involvement at the firm and an established role in its litigation practice. He has continued his work at Kean Miller, handling matters that require appearances in both trial and appellate courts.

Mese’s professional memberships map onto his practice. He holds current memberships in the Louisiana State Bar and the American Bar Association. He also belongs to the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, an organization that draws attorneys who work on civil defense matters. Locally, he is a member of the Greater Baton Rouge Board of Realtors®, indicating a thread of involvement with real estate interests and the local professional community.

Colleagues describe him as a steady presence in court calendars and client meetings. He balances long-form preparation with direct courtroom work. Over the years he has handled pleadings, discovery disputes and motions in federal and state forums. He has also taken appeals to the Fifth Circuit when cases required the higher court’s review.

Outside of litigation, Mese’s background includes graduate study at UC Davis, an uncommon stop for lawyers who return to practice in Louisiana. That academic step suggests a broader interest in research and technical analysis prior to law school. It also provides a different perspective when he evaluates evidence and expert testimony.

He remains at Kean Miller LLP and continues to represent clients in state and federal courts. His current practice focuses on litigation in state and federal courts.
