About Mark

Mark Cobb earned a B.A. from Berry College in 1984, studying English, economics and political science. He went on to receive his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1988. Those academic choices set a practical tone. They combined writing and analysis with an interest in public affairs.

Cobb began his legal career in private practice. By 1997 he was a partner at Bivens, Hoffman & Fowler, LLP. A year later he left to form Cobb Law Group as an owner and partner. The move established him as a lawyer working across both metropolitan and more rural markets. His practice would come to span filings in state courts in Alabama and Georgia as well as appeals in the Eleventh Circuit and matters before the Federal Circuit.

Alongside private practice, Cobb has kept one foot in the academic world. He has served as adjunct faculty at Thomas University. That role has allowed him to teach and mentor students while continuing an active litigation practice. It also reflects an ongoing interest in legal education and in translating courtroom experience into classroom lessons.

Cobb’s professional involvement reaches beyond the courtroom. He has been a member of the American Bar Association since 2000 and joined the ABA Construction Law Forum in 1998. He is also affiliated with industry organizations such as the Associated General Contractors of America and the American Subcontractor Association. Locally, he has taken on leadership and governance roles: he has served as a vestryman at All Saints Episcopal Church and as vice-chairman of The Vashti Center. Since 2016 he has been treasurer of the Southern Regional Technical College Foundation, and he sits on the board of the Thomasville Antique Show Foundation.

The pattern of civic and professional service runs through his career. It shows a preference for roles that combine governance and practical problem solving. Those roles have been parallel to his work in construction-related legal matters and contract disputes, areas in which he has spent a considerable portion of his practice.

Cobb Law Group maintains offices in Metro Atlanta and South Georgia, allowing him to handle matters across state lines and in federal court. He continues to take on litigation and transactional work tied to construction, contracting and related business disputes. His current practice focuses on construction and contract matters handled in state and federal venues.
