About Marisa
Marisa Portuondo built a legal path that runs between technology and traditional legal training. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University in 2000 and followed that with a master’s in management information systems from the same school in 2001. She then completed her law degree at the University of Miami School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2006.
Her early career included a stint at Oramas & Associates in 2008. A year later she opened her own practice. Since 2009 she has served as owner of Portuondo Law Office, P.A. That step moved her from associate work into firm leadership, where day-to-day responsibilities expanded to include case strategy, client intake, and firm administration.
Portuondo is admitted to practice in Florida. She has handled a variety of matters for clients in the state over the course of her career. The record shows a steady progression from law firm attorney to solo practitioner and firm owner, a transition that often changes how lawyers balance client work and business management.
Colleagues and clients describe her approach as straightforward and pragmatic. She tends to favor clear explanations and practical next steps when discussing matters with clients. Her academic background in management information systems gives her an uncommon mix of technical and legal training for a lawyer who started practice in the mid-2000s.
Over the years she has managed the administrative side of running a small law firm. That includes supervising case flow, coordinating with outside counsel when matters require it, and handling client relations. These functions sit alongside the legal work itself and shape how the office operates day to day.
In practice she has focused her work on serving clients across Florida from her Portuondo Law Office, P.A. office. She continues to accept matters and represent clients through that firm, practicing law under Florida jurisdiction and running her firm’s operations in the state.
