About Marilyn
Marilyn Johnson built a long legal career grounded in both education and law. She completed a B.A. in Education at the University of Illinois – Chicago in 1971, then earned an M.S. in Special Education from Chicago State University in 1975. She finished her legal studies at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, receiving a J.D. in 1979.
Shortly after earning her law degree, she became a legal partner at the Law Offices of Johnson & Johnson, Ltd. in 1979. That step marked the start of a multi-decade association with the same firm. Over the years she has remained based at that practice and continued to handle matters through the firm’s offices.
She is admitted to practice before the State of Illinois Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Those admissions allow her to represent clients in state-level matters and in federal court proceedings within the Northern District.
Johnson maintains memberships in several professional organizations. She is a member of the Advocates Society, the Will County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. She also holds other professional affiliations that tie her to local and statewide legal communities.
Her academic background in education followed by a law degree gives her a perspective that draws on both fields. That combination has informed how she approaches legal work that intersects with education, administrative processes and client counseling. Colleagues note that her long tenure at a single firm has produced steady institutional knowledge and familiarity with regional practice patterns.
Clients and peers see a lawyer who has woven classroom training and courtroom practice into a single career. She has handled matters that require appearances in Illinois courts and before the federal district in the Northern District. Today she practices at the Law Offices of Johnson & Johnson, Ltd., representing clients in state and federal matters and remaining active in local and state bar organizations.
