About Marianne C.
Marianne C. LeBlanc trained in the liberal arts at Wellesley College and then studied law at Boston College, earning her B.A. in 1990 and her J.D. in 1993. Those years framed a career spent largely in courtrooms. Her academic background sits behind a procedural and fact-centered approach to disputes.
After law school she joined litigation practice and rose through the ranks to become a principal at Sugarman & Sugarman, P.C. She holds that leadership role today. At the firm she has taken on a range of trial responsibilities, supervising teams, preparing cases for trial, and appearing before judges and juries.
LeBlanc is licensed in Massachusetts and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She regularly handles matters in both state and federal courts. Colleagues describe her courtroom presence as steady and purposeful. Her practice draws on traditional trial tools: motion practice, discovery management and courtroom advocacy.
Her professional affiliations reflect an emphasis on trial work and lawyer collegiality. She maintains memberships in the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts. Nationally, she belongs to the American Association for Justice. In 2019 she was named a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an honor that recognizes trial experience and peer review. These associations provide forums where she participates in continuing legal education and professional discussions.
Within the office she balances casework and firm responsibilities. As a principal she oversees case strategy and mentors junior lawyers. She also engages in the practical business tasks of running litigation files and coordinating with clients and experts. Peers note that she approaches complex litigation with a methodical temperament, breaking large problems into manageable tasks and setting clear priorities for trial preparation.
Outside the courtroom she has taken part in bar activities and educational programs that address trial technique and ethical practice. She has remained active in professional circles in Massachusetts and at the national level. Her current practice is centered on trial litigation in Massachusetts state and federal courts.
