About Maria Elena
Maria Elena Crabtree built her path to the law in Northern California. She completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of California, Davis in 2003, studying psychology and communications while also taking minors in English and human development. She later earned her law degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law, completing her legal studies in the early 2010s.
Her time in law school combined classroom work with hands-on training. In 2009 she served as a certified law student at the UC Davis Family Protection and Legal Assistance Clinic, representing clients under supervision and gaining early courtroom and client-contact experience. That practical work foreshadowed the course of her career, which has centered on family law.
After graduation she entered private practice and by 2012 had taken on roles both as an associate and as the head of her own practice. She worked as an associate at Whatley Law Office and in the same year became the managing lawyer at the Law Offices of Maria E. Crabtree. Those concurrent positions reflect a rapid move into both litigation and practice management during the first years of her professional life.
Crabtree has pursued specialization in family law. She holds the Certified Family Law Specialist credential issued by the State Bar of California. She is also active in professional organizations relevant to that field. Her memberships include the American Bar Association Family Law Section and the California and Sacramento County bar family law sections beginning in 2011, and the Contra Costa County Bar Association Family Law Section since 2012.
Her experience includes courtroom appearances, client counseling, and negotiation. She has worked with clients on matters commonly addressed by family law practitioners such as dissolution of marriage, child custody, and support issues, drawing on both litigation and settlement tools. She has also handled the administrative and managerial tasks that come from running a small law office, including client intake and supervising case workflow.
Colleagues and opposing counsel describe Crabtree as methodical in preparing cases and straightforward in dealing with procedural matters. Her practice reflects the combination of clinical training at UC Davis and several years of private practice in California courts. She currently practices family law through the Law Offices of Maria E. Crabtree in California.
