About Indy
Indy Colbath is a California family law attorney who built her practice over more than a decade in the Bay Area. She combines classroom training in child, family and elder law with hands-on courtroom and client work.
Colbath earned her J.D. from California Western School of Law, completing coursework in child, family and elder law. Before law school she attended the University of California, Davis, where she studied sociology with an emphasis in law and society.
Her early professional years included membership in the San Diego County Bar Association from 2010 to 2014. She moved into family law practice in the Bay Area and joined Family Law Group, LLP as an associate in 2015. That period shaped her day-to-day experience in divorce and related family court matters and gave her exposure to both negotiated resolutions and contested hearings.
In 2022 she became a partner and shareholder at Bay Area Family Law Center. The role involved taking on more responsibility for case management and client counseling. Colbath handles a range of family law matters and works with clients through the procedural steps of family court.
She is active in several local bar and family law organizations. Since 2015 she has been a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association and the Alameda County Bar Association. She also belongs to the Alameda County Family Law Association and maintains a board position with the Eastern Alameda County Bar Association. These memberships keep her connected to peers and to developments in local practice and procedure.
