About Marc L.
Marc L. Breakstone has built a long career in Massachusetts courts. He earned his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 1986 after completing a B.A. at the University of Michigan in 1981. Those formative years set the stage for steady work in litigation and courtroom practice.
After law school, Breakstone gained admission to practice in multiple federal and state venues, including the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He joined the Boston legal community at a time when trial practice was changing and federal courts were taking on an expanding docket.
Breakstone became a partner at Breakstone, White & Gluck in 1992. The promotion followed years of courtroom experience and firm work. As a partner he has taken on trial preparation, motions, and appeals. He has handled cases in state and federal forums and has worked alongside colleagues on complex litigation strategies.
Outside the office he has been active in professional groups. He holds current membership in the Massachusetts State Bar. He also serves on the Board of Governors of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers, a position that places him among peers who regularly discuss litigation practice and rules of procedure. Those roles keep him engaged with developments in state law and procedural practice.
Colleagues describe Breakstone as methodical in the courtroom and exacting in legal research. He favors clear organization. He prepares witnesses and filings in a manner meant to make arguments straightforward for judges and juries. His career reflects steady involvement in trial work and appellate matters over decades.
Education and bar admissions remain central to his professional identity. Northeastern Law’s curriculum and his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan are points he returns to when mentoring younger attorneys. He has used those experiences to guide associates and to contribute to firm policies on case management and trial readiness.
Today he continues at Breakstone, White & Gluck. He remains active in the state bar and in the Academy of Trial Lawyers, and he practices in the courts where he holds admission.
