About Marc J.
Marc J. Brown grew up interested in how people and systems interact. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina in 2009. He then went to Emory University School of Law, where he completed his J.D. in 2014. Those years shaped his legal instincts and gave him grounding in both human behavior and courtroom procedure.
Brown began gaining practical experience while still in school, interning for The Coca-Cola Company in 2013. After law school he entered private practice and spent time at several regional firms. He joined Carlock, Copeland & Stair, LLP as an associate in 2015, moved to Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in 2016, and worked at Turner, Padget, Graham & Laney, P.A. in 2018. In 2019 he launched his own firm, Marc Brown Law Office, LLC, and has led the practice since then.
His track record includes work in both state and federal courts. He is licensed to practice in South Carolina and Georgia. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. That mix of admissions gives him flexibility on where he can represent clients and file cases.
Brown handles civil matters across a range of issues. His background combines trial experience and litigation support acquired at larger firms with the autonomy of running a small office. He prepares pleadings, argues motions, and handles discovery. He also manages client strategy and the administrative demands of running a law practice.
He belongs to several professional organizations. Current memberships include the Georgia Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar Association, the South Carolina Association of Justice, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the National Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Richland County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Black Lawyers Association. He participates in bar activities and local legal communities.
Brown’s practice is based in his own firm, which he founded in 2019. He represents individuals and businesses in litigation in state and federal venues in South Carolina and Georgia. His practice concentrates on civil litigation and trial representation in those jurisdictions.
