About Marc A.

Marc A. Smiley built his legal foundation in New York. He earned a B.S. from Syracuse University and later took his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law. Those years set the rhythm for a career that has moved between private practice and courtroom filings in more than one state.

Smiley began practicing in 2000 at Herbert E. Nass & Associates. Early work there gave him front-line experience in day-to-day lawyering. He moved to Tannenbaum Dubin & Robinson, LLP in 2003 and then to Wolfe & Goldstein, P.A. in 2004. Each step added new responsibilities and exposure to different client problems and firm environments.

In 2007 he joined Siegfried Rivera as a shareholder. That role has been the center of his professional life for years. As a shareholder he has taken on leadership duties inside the firm while continuing to appear in court and manage client matters. He is admitted to practice in New York and Florida, and he is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He holds an active membership in The Florida Bar.

Colleagues describe Smiley as steady in the courtroom and practical at the negotiating table. He approaches matters with a style that combines careful preparation and direct communication. He has handled filings in state and federal forums and works with clients who must operate across state lines. Those experiences shape how he evaluates risk and plans next steps for clients.

Outside of casework, Smiley’s trajectory reflects a path through a variety of firm structures. He has worked at both regional firms and more specialized practices. That background informs how he allocates work within a team and how he mentors junior lawyers. It also influences how he allocates attention between litigation strategy and client management.

Today Smiley practices at Siegfried Rivera. He represents clients in matters that involve Florida and New York law and handles filings in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. His current practice focuses on matters in Florida, New York, and federal litigation in the Southern District of Florida.
