About Lynn
Lynn Gorelick earned a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1978. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1982. Those formative years set the stage for a career that has remained rooted in California law.
Soon after law school, Gorelick began building a practice centered on criminal and DUI defense. Over decades she has moved between courtroom work and professional education. She has served on panels appointed by local bar groups and has often taken on cases where representation is provided by appointment. In 2016 she joined the Court Appointed Lawyer Panel of the Alameda County Bar Association, adding a public-service dimension to her private practice.
Gorelick’s work in the field of DUI law includes long-standing involvement with organizations that shape how DUI cases are handled in the state. She has been active in the California DUI Lawyers Association since the early 1990s and has served on its board; she is listed as a past president of that group. The association also notes her status as a specialist member, a designation she has carried within that professional community.
Her engagement with national organizations runs in parallel. She has been part of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since at least 2008 and sits on committees within that body. She also holds a role in the National College of DUI Defense as a faculty and sustaining member, a position she has occupied since the early 2000s. Teaching and training other lawyers has been a recurring element of her career, and she frequently participates in seminars and courses aimed at trial skills and DUI defense techniques.
Colleagues describe her as steady in court and thorough in preparation. She handles a range of criminal matters but maintains a particular interest in cases arising from DUI arrests and related evidentiary issues. That interest has informed both her courtroom work and her contributions to continuing legal education.
Gorelick’s practice is based in California, where she continues to take cases, teach at professional gatherings, and serve on committees that address courtroom appointment panels and DUI defense standards. Her current practice focuses on DUI and criminal defense in California.
