About Lynn E. Roberts
Lynn E. Roberts III built a legal path that moves between courtrooms, university counsel offices and the small firm world. He started his career in a judicial clerkship, then spent years inside organizations where law and operations meet. He now runs a boutique practice focused on trademark and business matters.
Roberts studied political theory and economics as an undergraduate at Lincoln University, earning a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics & Economics in 2009. He then attended North Carolina Central University School of Law and received his J.D. in 2014. Seeking additional governance training, Roberts completed the University of Pennsylvania DiverseForce On Boards certificate program in Corporate Governance, Board Leadership & Ethics in 2023.
His early legal work began in the Delaware court system. In 2013 he served as a senior judicial law clerk at the Court of Common Pleas for the State of Delaware in New Castle County. That role gave him firsthand exposure to civil procedure and written opinion drafting. He moved into private practice and served of counsel at Mincey Fitzpatrick & Ross, LLC beginning in 2014. He later joined Wilbraham Lawler & Buba, P.C. as an associate in 2018.
Roberts transitioned to in-house work in 2019 when he became associate general counsel at the University of Hartford. The position required day-to-day counseling on institutional matters and taught him how legal advice fits within larger organizational goals. He returned to private practice as a senior associate at O Hagan Meyer, PLLC in 2020. In 2022 he founded Jones Roberts Group, LLC and took on the role of CEO and trademark and business lawyer.
He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Association of Corporate Counsel has recognized him as an In-House Counsel Certified Lawyer, a credential that reflects experience inside corporate legal departments. His background combines litigation-adjacent experience from his clerkship with transactional and counseling work at universities and law firms.
Colleagues describe Roberts as methodical in contract review and pragmatic in trademark strategy. He handles trademark registration and enforcement, corporate agreements, and routine business transactions. His education in governance informs board-level conversations when clients need counsel on policies and decision-making.
Roberts leads Jones Roberts Group, LLC and maintains a practice that centers on trademark and business law matters.
