About Luke

Luke Woods earned a B.A. in economics from Reed College after beginning his studies in 1989 and completing the degree in 1993. He arrived at law from a nontraditional academic background in the social sciences. The analytical training he received at Reed shaped how he approaches problem solving in legal matters.

After moving into the legal field, Woods became licensed to practice in Maryland and built a practice based in that jurisdiction. He is a current member of a professional association, and that ongoing participation keeps him connected to colleagues and developments in state practice. Much of his day-to-day work comes through FrizWoods, LLC, where he has maintained his practice and served clients across a range of matters handled under Maryland law.

Woods’s courtroom and transactional work concentrates on issues that arise in state courts and administrative processes. He handles client matters from initial assessment through resolution. He tends to favor clear, direct communication and practical planning. Clients and colleagues describe him as methodical; he takes time to map out options before recommending a path forward.

His background in economics remains evident in how he analyzes cases. He pays attention to underlying incentives and the economic consequences of legal strategies. That perspective informs settlement discussions and case valuation. It also shapes how he prepares for hearings and negotiates on behalf of clients.

Outside client files, Woods stays engaged in the local legal community. He participates in continuing education and attends meetings of the association of which he is a current member. Those activities provide regular updates on procedural and substantive changes in Maryland law.

Colleagues at FrizWoods, LLC note that Woods brings steady judgment to complex matters. He handles research, motion practice and client counseling in a steady, workmanlike manner. He also mentors junior attorneys at the firm, helping them translate legal theory into practical courtroom or negotiation tactics.

Today Woods continues to practice from FrizWoods, LLC, handling a range of matters that arise under Maryland law. His current practice focuses on client representation and case management within the Maryland legal system.
