About Luke
Luke Neuville earned his J.D. from Hamline University School of Law in 2007 after completing a bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 2004. His academic path kept him close to Minnesota courts and public agencies, where he began to shape a career in criminal defense and public service.
After law school, Neuville took a series of clerkship positions that put him inside courtrooms and government legal offices. He worked in the Minneapolis City Lawyer’s Office in 2008, then served as a law clerk for both the Ramsey County and Hennepin County public defender offices in 2009. In 2010 he was a judicial law clerk for the Minnesota State District Court, an experience that offered perspective from the bench and a close view of trial procedures and judicial decision-making.
Neuville moved into full-time public defense work in 2012 when he joined the Stearns County Public Defender’s Office as a full-time assistant public defender. That role expanded his trial duties and client contact. He handled arraignments, hearings, and trials on a daily basis. Two years later he opened his own practice, forming Neuville Law Office in 2014. As owner, he shifted responsibilities to include firm management as well as ongoing trial work.
Since 2018 Neuville has been a member of both the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National College of DUI Defense. Those affiliations reflect the areas where he spends much of his time. Membership in those organizations offers access to specialized training, peer discussions, and technical resources related to criminal law and impaired-driving cases.
Colleagues and clients who have worked with him describe a lawyer who draws on courtroom experience and public defender training. His background provides familiarity with pretrial processes, plea negotiations, motion practice, and jury trials. The mix of clerkship experience and years in county public defender offices gave him exposure to both sides of court operations, from judicial procedures to client advocacy.
Neuville divides his practice work between case preparation and courtroom advocacy. He represents clients in state-level criminal matters and handles cases involving impaired driving. He maintains Neuville Law Office and continues to take cases that involve trial work, hearings, and motions practice. He focuses on criminal defense and DUI defense in his current practice.
