About Luis
Luis Villarroel is an immigration lawyer licensed to practice in Ohio. He earned his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School in 2014. Before law school, he studied international affairs at The Ohio State University, where he completed a major in International Studies, Security and Intelligence. Those academic choices set the stage for a career that has stayed closely tied to cross-border and human mobility issues.
After finishing law school Villarroel entered the field of immigration law. He joined the Herman Legal Group and has worked across several of its offices. Over the years he has handled matters that require appearances before immigration agencies and the preparation of petitions and applications on behalf of individuals and families. He is based in Columbus but his practice touches other cities where the firm operates.
Villarroel’s work is carried out through Herman Legal Group’s network. He is affiliated with the firm’s Columbus office and coordinates with teammates in Cincinnati, Dayton and the firm’s headquarters in Cleveland. The firm’s footprint also extends to Dallas–McKinney and Miami, and he participates in cases that intersect those markets when clients’ matters require it. That structure allows him to manage cases that involve multiple jurisdictions and administrative venues.
Clients see him on a range of immigration matters. He prepares documentation, represents clients at hearings, and advises on procedural steps in immigration proceedings. He handles casework that spans family-based petitions, applications for relief, and matters that move through agency adjudication. His practice requires regular contact with federal immigration agencies and courts, and he spends substantial time on case preparation and client consultation.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and direct in how he approaches casework. He relies on clear client communication, careful documentation, and attention to procedural deadlines. Outside the office he keeps up with developments in immigration law that affect practice in Ohio and in other states where Herman Legal Group operates. He has been involved in client work through the firm since his arrival and continues to practice in its Ohio offices and in coordination with the firm’s national locations.
He currently practices immigration law through Herman Legal Group, representing individuals and families in a range of immigration matters across Ohio and the firm’s other offices.
