About Luigi
Luigi Vigliotti built a legal foundation on two well-known New York campuses. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from New York University in 1997 and completed his J.D. at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2001. Those years set the stage for immediate entry into public service and courtroom work.
Straight out of law school, Vigliotti joined the Nassau County District Attorney's Office as an assistant district lawyer in 2001. He cut his teeth on prosecutorial work, handling early trials and learning the mechanics of courtroom procedure. That experience informed his later defense work and gave him a close view of how cases are built on both sides of the aisle.
By 2005 he returned to Hofstra, this time as a trial advocacy instructor. He taught practical trial skills to law students, emphasizing examination techniques, witness handling, and evidence presentation. In 2013 he took on the role of chief counsel for the New York State Fraternal Order of Police Foundation Inc., a position that placed him in a different corner of criminal justice practice and involved counsel work for organizational clients.
Vigliotti later founded the Law Offices of Luigi Vigliotti, P.C., where he has carried forward a practice centered on criminal defense. He serves on the Nassau County Assigned Counsel Panel for both felony and misdemeanor cases and maintains memberships in a range of professional groups, including the Nassau County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Columbian Lawyers Association, and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Those affiliations reflect continued engagement with peers and ongoing work on trial matters across county and state levels.
Colleagues describe his courtroom manner as straightforward. He prepares cases for trial and challenges evidence where appropriate. His background on the prosecution side and as an instructor informs both strategy and advocacy. He handles matters that move through arraignment, pretrial motion practice, and jury trial. Vigliotti is admitted to practice in New York and maintains his practice through his firm. He currently focuses his practice on criminal defense in New York.
