About Lucas W.
Lucas W. Griffin earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Science Education from the University of Georgia in 2003 and a Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2009. He took a traditional path from classroom to courtroom, completing his formal legal training before entering private practice. Those academic years laid the groundwork for a career spent primarily in litigation.
After law school Griffin worked at Pittman, Dutton & Hellums, where he gained early courtroom experience and exposure to the day-to-day demands of trial practice. He moved to the Law Offices of Gary Martin Hays & Associates, P.C. in 2016 and has practiced there since. The move marked a shift into a larger litigation environment and a heavier docket of contested matters.
Griffin is admitted to practice in Alabama and has standing to appear before the Alabama Supreme Court and the United States District Courts. Those admissions allow him to take cases at both the state and federal level. Over the years he has handled procedural hearings, motion practice, discovery disputes and jury trials in venues across the state.
He maintains memberships in several professional organizations, including the Alabama State Bar Association and the Birmingham Bar Association. He also participates in groups that concentrate on plaintiff-side litigation, holding memberships in the Alabama Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice. Those affiliations keep him connected to developments in trial strategy and procedural law.
Colleagues describe Griffin as methodical in preparing for court. He approaches each matter by focusing on the record and on the practical steps needed to move a case forward. He has experience guiding clients through pretrial negotiation, through the discovery process and into trial when necessary. He also handles pleadings and appellate filings when cases require further review.
He currently practices at the Law Offices of Gary Martin Hays & Associates, P.C., handling litigation in Alabama state and federal courts.
