About John
John Kim earned a B.A. in political science with a minor in economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2009. He went on to study law at the University of Georgia, receiving his J.D. in 2014. Those academic years set a practical tone. He combined classroom training with court exposure early on and kept that pattern through the start of his career.
He began his legal work in the Floyd County Superior Court as a law clerk and staff lawyer in 2014. The following year he joined the Spalding County District Lawyer's Office as an assistant district lawyer. In 2017 he moved to the Fulton County District Lawyer's Office and continued handling matters at the county level. Those positions placed him in court regularly and exposed him to the realities of trial practice.
In 2018 he entered private practice as an associate at Stone Kalfus LLP. He spent time on both sides of dispute resolution. In 2019 he transitioned to the insurance sector as claims counsel for Travelers Insurance, handling claims evaluation and litigation management. The combination of prosecutorial work, firm-based matters, and in-house claims experience broadened his practical perspective on case preparation and risk assessment.
In 2021 he founded JK Law Office LLC. He has carried that business through the early years of private practice. He maintains memberships in several professional groups, including the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Korean-American Bar Association of Georgia, the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Those affiliations connect him to trial lawyers, criminal defense practitioners, and local bar networks in Georgia.
His practice reflects the path of his career. He has handled courtroom work at the county level, worked on litigation and claims for an insurer, and served in private firm roles. He represents clients in matters arising in Georgia and draws on experience from both prosecution and civil claims work. He practices from his firm in Georgia and concentrates his current practice on litigation and claims-related representation in the state.
