About Loren Michael
Loren Michael Legorreta began his legal path after completing a sequence of degrees that crossed disciplines. He earned a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2009), a B.A. in Political Theory from Northern Illinois University (2012), and a J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law (2017), where he studied trial advocacy.
Legorreta's early legal work mixed law firm experience and academic support roles. In 2015 he worked as a law clerk at Goldberg Weisman Cairo and at Power Rogers & Smith, LLP. That same year he assisted Professor James T. Gathii at Loyola University Chicago in a research capacity, an assignment that gave him exposure to legal scholarship alongside practical tasks in the office.
After law school, he joined Pfaff, Gill & Ports, Ltd., initially as a law clerk and then moving into a trial lawyer role in 2017. Those years involved courtroom preparation, depositions and supporting litigation strategy. In 2019 he moved to Tomasik Kotin Kasserman, LLC as a trial lawyer, where he continued to develop courtroom experience.
Legorreta's resume reflects steady progression from clerkships to trial work. The sequence of roles suggests hands-on involvement in litigation from early on. He has worked in different firm environments, which exposed him to varied approaches to case preparation and advocacy. That practical grounding informed the transition from supportive roles into lead trial duties.
On the education side, Legorreta combined technical and theoretical training before law school. An undergraduate degree in architecture preceded a major in political theory. He carried those interests into law by concentrating on trial advocacy during his J.D. studies. The combination of analytical design thinking and political theory has informed his approach to constructing legal arguments and presenting complex information clearly to juries and judges.
Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who came up through litigation teams and trial dockets. He has handled tasks typical of trial lawyers: drafting pleadings, taking and defending depositions, and preparing witnesses for trial. His work has unfolded within Illinois courts and under the structures of Illinois practice.
Legorreta currently practices at Tomasik Kotin Kasserman LLC. He concentrates on civil trial work in Illinois.
