About Lisa
Lisa Mathews brings a blend of business training and legal education to her work in Virginia. She began her academic journey with a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in 2002. After several years away from the classroom she returned to study business, earning an MBA from Indiana University in 2014. She then moved into law and received her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 2017.
Her path through business school before law school shaped a pragmatic approach to legal problems. The MBA years gave her familiarity with finance and management. The law degree sharpened advocacy and legal analysis. Those credentials sit side by side on her resume, and they inform how she prepares cases and advises clients.
Since completing law school she has practiced in Virginia. Her membership in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association indicates active engagement with trial advocacy and civil litigation circles. That association also offers a forum for continuing legal education, trial practice discussions, and peer networking—elements she has taken part in while developing her practice.
Colleagues describe her as methodical in case preparation and direct in client communication. She favors plain explanations over legalese, aiming to help people understand options and consequences. In the courtroom she relies on careful preparation and an attention to procedure. Outside the courtroom she applies business judgment from her MBA when evaluating settlements or structuring client advice.
She is based at Mathews Law, PLLC. Her work centers on representing clients in Virginia courts and handling litigation matters that arise in the state. She remains active in professional circles that support trial skills and civil justice. She currently practices at Mathews Law, PLLC, handling litigation and client representation in Virginia.
