About Lisa Kirsch
Lisa Kirsch Satawa built her legal foundation at Boston University and earned a J.D. from Detroit College of Law in 1994. She entered practice soon after, at a moment when criminal defense and children’s law were becoming intertwined in many courts. That combination of interests would shape much of her career.
She became a partner at Kirsch & Satawa PC in 1995. Over the following decades she moved between private practice, firm leadership and consulting roles. She created LKS Trial Consulting in 2011 to provide training and trial support. She has served as managing partner and chief litigator at several firms, including Kirsch Leach + Associates and Lisa B Kirsch Satawa PLLC. Since 2018 she has held chief litigator roles at Kirsch Daskas Law Group, including positions described as Chief Criminal Litigator and Chief Litigator and Advocate.
Her practice spans state and federal work. She is admitted in Michigan and has practiced in the 6th Circuit and before the U.S. Supreme Court. That mix of trial and appellate experience informs how she prepares cases. She has trained other lawyers on trial skills and has acted as a trial consultant in high-stakes matters.
Children’s law and criminal defense overlap in many of her professional activities. She holds Guardian Ad Litem training and certification from the State of Michigan. She has longstanding ties to organizations that focus on child welfare and defense, including membership in the National Association of Counsel for Children since 1998 and participation in the National Child Abuse Defense Resource Center conferences since 1996. She has also served on projects and committees addressing sexual assault policy and jury instructions at the state level.
Her involvement in professional associations is extensive and sustained. She has been active in the Criminal Defense Lawyers of Michigan for decades, serving on its board and executive positions, acting as faculty and speaker at its Trial College and creating an instructional program called A is for Lawyer. She has been part of the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly and has held roles in the bar’s criminal, children’s and family law sections.
Colleagues and younger lawyers encounter her most often in training rooms and courtrooms. She balances trial practice with mentoring and committee work. She currently practices as Chief Criminal Litigator at Kirsch Daskas Law Group PLLC, handling criminal defense and related children’s law matters.
