About Lisa G.
Lisa G. Arrowood graduated from Brown University in 1978 and earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1982. Those years on the East Coast set the stage for a long career in litigation. Her academic background is often the starting point people mention when discussing her trajectory into courtroom work.
After law school she joined Hale and Dorr LLP in 1982. That early period was spent in litigation practice at a large firm, gaining experience in civil trials and pretrial work. She became admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1982 and later secured admissions to federal courts, including the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the First and Fourth Circuit Courts of Appeal.
In 1992 she was among the founding partners of Todd & Weld LLP. Over the years at Todd & Weld she handled complex civil matters and took on a range of trial responsibilities. Colleagues from that era remember her for a methodical approach in the courtroom and an emphasis on clear, persuasive presentation of facts and law.
Nearly two decades later she launched Arrowood LLP in 2011. As founding partner, she built a smaller practice structure after years at larger firms. The move allowed her to manage cases more directly and to shape firm policies and staffing. Arrowood LLP has since been the base for her ongoing work in civil litigation.
Her professional affiliations cover a mix of bar organizations and specialty groups. She has been a member of the Massachusetts State Bar since 1982 and the Boston Bar Association, where she has served on the executive committee since 2010 and earlier co-chaired the Tort Litigation Committee from 2007 to 2009. She has been active in the American Bar Association, including service as Vice-Chair of the Medicine and Law Subcommittee of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section from 1987 to 1994, and currently participates on the ABA Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary for the First Circuit.
Arrowood has long ties to the American College of Trial Lawyers. She became a Fellow in 2005, served as Vice-Chair of its State Committee from 2007 to 2009, chaired that committee from 2009 to 2011, and has served on the Regents Nominating Committee since 2011. She has also contributed to local legal education programs, including work with Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education and the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Health Law Council.
She maintains an active litigation practice in Massachusetts, handling matters in state and federal courts and continuing to lead Arrowood LLP.
