About Lee Gill

Lee Gill Cohen built a career that crosses prosecution, private practice and civic boards. She began her legal studies at Tulane University, earning a B.A., and went on to receive her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law. Those formative years set the stage for a practice grounded in courtroom work and public service.

Cohen entered public service as a prosecutor. In 2001 she joined the Broward County State Attorney’s Office, where she handled a range of criminal matters. That time in the prosecutor’s office gave her experience in trial preparation, evidence, and courtroom procedure. She later moved into private practice and took on leadership roles in law firms.

In 2017 Cohen became the managing partner at Kanner & Pintaluga. The title reflected a shift toward firm management and the daily realities of running a litigation practice. As managing partner she oversaw case strategy, staffing and client matters while maintaining her own docket. Her career since the prosecutor’s office has combined litigation, case supervision and administrative responsibilities.

Cohen is admitted to practice in Florida and before the U.S. Supreme Court. That dual admission signals work that spans state courts and, at times, reaches the national level. It also means she handles procedural and appellate issues that come with higher courts.

Outside the courtroom she has taken on roles in several organizations tied to public safety and victim advocacy. She serves on the board of Mothers Against Drunk Driving and sits on the Associate Advisory Board of the Broward Crime Commission. She is also a member of the National Crime Victim Bar Association. Those involvements place her in regular contact with community stakeholders and groups that work on policy, prevention and support for victims of crime.

Colleagues describe Cohen as an attorney who moves comfortably between litigation and organizational work. Her background as a prosecutor shaped an approach to case development, and her time leading a firm added layers of management and strategy to her skill set. She has taken on trial work, appellate matters and the administrative tasks that accompany running a practice.

Cohen maintains an active practice centered on litigation in Florida and on matters that, when they arise, proceed to the federal appellate level or the U.S. Supreme Court. Her current practice centers on litigation in Florida courts and, where appropriate, cases that reach the U.S. Supreme Court.
