About Lauren

Lauren Butler began her academic journey at the University of Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2004. Nearly a decade later she returned to formal study and received her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 2013. The combination of a Midwestern undergraduate education and legal training in Colorado shaped her understanding of both regional and state legal landscapes.

After law school Butler entered practice in Colorado. She is admitted to the Colorado bar and has built a practice rooted in the state’s courts and regulatory systems. Over the years she has worked on matters that require steady attention to statutory detail and courtroom procedure. Colleagues describe her work as thorough and grounded in careful legal analysis.

Butler’s early years in practice involved routine litigation tasks, research and drafting, and appearances in hearings. Those foundational experiences led to a broader role counseling clients on procedural strategy and case management. She has handled cases at different stages, from initial filings through resolution, and has developed a practical sense for pacing a case and managing client expectations.

Her education and professional path give her a perspective that combines academic training and hands-on practice. She applies classroom-taught doctrine to the everyday questions clients bring to her office. That includes interpreting recent Colorado decisions, tracking changes in state procedure, and preparing materials for hearings and trial where needed. She favors clear written work and precise oral argument when representing clients before judges and administrative tribunals.

Outside of the courtroom, Butler has been involved in professional activities typical of many state practitioners. She maintains the continuing education and licensing requirements necessary to practice in Colorado. She also stays engaged with developments in state law that affect her caseload and her clients’ interests.

Colleagues and clients who have worked with Butler note an approach that emphasizes careful preparation and straightforward communication. She takes time to map out legal options and to explain tradeoffs in plain terms. That steadiness has been a through line from her time at the University of Colorado Law School to her current work.

Her current practice concentrates on representing clients in matters arising under Colorado law, handling litigation and administrative issues across the state.
