About Lauren

Lauren Acquaviva built a legal path that moves from public service to private practice. She combined an early interest in social work with a law degree, and the two strands have shaped the kinds of disputes she handles and the clients she represents.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Monmouth University in 2009. She then attended the University of South Carolina School of Law and received her J.D. in 2012. The combination of social work training and legal education informs how she evaluates cases and works with families and individuals facing complex problems.

After law school Acquaviva took a post in state government. She joined the South Carolina Department of Revenue as counsel for litigation in 2012. In that role she handled matters that required both procedural discipline and an understanding of statutory frameworks. The position exposed her to courtroom work and administrative proceedings, and it provided a foundation in litigation practice.

She moved into private practice later in the 2010s. In 2018 she served as an associate at Chillico & Associates, LLC, where she expanded her experience in client counseling and contested matters. A year later she opened The Acquaviva Law Office, LLC and became its principal lawyer. Since forming her firm she has managed a range of files and overseen the office’s day-to-day operations.

Acquaviva is admitted to practice in New Jersey and South Carolina. She maintains active memberships in the South Carolina Bar Association, where she has been listed since 2012, the Charleston County Bar Association from 2020 onward, and the American Bar Association since 2010. She also holds certification as a guardian ad litem through the South Carolina State Bar, a credential that signals training in representing the interests of minors and other individuals in court-appointed roles.

Her background in social work and litigation experience shapes how she approaches disputes. Colleagues describe her as thorough in preparing cases and attentive to the procedural requirements that govern family and civil matters. Clients encounter a lawyer who blends legal analysis with attention to the personal dynamics that often accompany contested cases.

She maintains a small office practice in Charleston and handles matters that draw on her experience in litigation and guardianship. Her current practice concentrates on family law, guardianship matters, and civil litigation.
