About Laura M.

Laura M. Boyd has been a visible presence in the Fresno legal community for more than a decade. She built an early career bridge from journalism into law, carrying the reporting instincts of her undergraduate training into courtroom preparation and client work. Her involvement in local bar groups has kept her connected to colleagues and cases across the county.

Boyd's academic path began at California State University, Fresno, where she earned a B.A. in Mass Communication and Journalism in 2003. She stayed in the Central Valley for additional legal training, completing a paralegal certificate from San Joaquin College of Law in 2006 and earning her J.D. from the same institution in 2009. The sequence reflects a steady move from research and writing into legal analysis and advocacy.

After law school, Boyd engaged with professional networks that shape practice in Fresno County. In 2010 she joined the Fresno County Young Lawyers Association and the Fresno County Bar Association’s Criminal Law Section. Those memberships placed her in regular contact with prosecutors, defense lawyers and judges, and they helped her develop practical skills outside the classroom. Colleagues have noted that membership in these groups often leads to trial experience and collaborative problem solving on difficult cases.

Her service in local bar organizations culminated in leadership roles with Fresno County Women Lawyers. She served as vice president in 2013 and as president in 2014. In those positions she organized events, coordinated mentorship programs and worked on issues affecting women in the profession. The roles required administrative oversight and public-facing duties, and they positioned her as a point of contact for younger attorneys seeking guidance.

As of 2026 Boyd continues to practice in Fresno County. Her professional activities include work connected to criminal law through her participation in bar association sections and local legal programs. She maintains a practice that reflects the career arc she established after law school and remains active in the local legal community.
