About Laura
Laura Hoffman trained as a historian before turning to the law. She earned a Bachelor of Science in history from the State University of New York at Oneonta in 2001 after beginning her undergraduate studies in 1998. She then attended Syracuse University College of Law, completing her J.D. in 2005 after entering law school in 2002. Those years framed a steady progression from liberal arts to legal practice.
She admits to practice in New York and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. After law school, she began practicing in the state and federal courts that serve New Yorkers. Over time she moved into private practice and established an office that bears her name. The transition to a solo practice allowed her to control case selection and the manner of client representation.
Her work spans trial and appellate matters. That combination reflects her legal training and the appellate admission she maintains. She handles filings, oral argument preparation, and court practice in both trial-level and appellate settings. Clients see a consistent approach to process and procedure. Courtroom work and appeals require different pacing and preparation. She manages both.
Throughout her career she has managed the practical demands of running a small firm while keeping a caseload. That has meant developing systems for litigation, client intake, and document management. It has also meant providing direct counsel to individuals and businesses on procedural and substantive legal questions. Her practice draws on litigation experience in state courts and federal courts in the Second Circuit.
She operates The Hoffman Law Office, LLC. The office handles matters that arise under New York law and in federal cases that progress into the Second Circuit. She currently represents clients through The Hoffman Law Office, LLC in state and federal matters in New York and in the Second Circuit.
