Latika M. Malkani is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1996. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. Malkani is a partner at Siegel LeWitter Malkani, a law firm located in Oakland, California. She has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients throughout the state, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Ms. Malkani earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where she graduated in 1996. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991. During her time at McGeorge School of Law, she excelled in oral argument and advocacy, serving on the Honors Board and the International Moot Court.
Ms. Malkani concentrates her practice in the areas of employment law and appellate law. She represents employees and labor unions in matters involving workplace discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and civil appeals. Her practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. She has also litigated numerous civil employment matters in state and federal courts, including civil writs and appeals, wage and hour and other class action claims, enforcement of anti-discrimination laws, fraud and misrepresentation claims, and whistleblower protection cases.
Throughout her career, Ms. Malkani has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Alameda, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to joining Siegel LeWitter Malkani, she worked with numerous social justice law firms throughout California, including Public Advocates in San Francisco, the Legal Aid Society of Alameda County, Community Legal Services in Sacramento, and the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles.
Ms. Malkani is an active member of the California State Bar Association and the Alameda County Bar Association. She holds membership in the South Asian Bar Association of Northern California and the National Lawyers' Guild. She is also a member of the North American South Asian Bar Association, where she co-chairs the Labor and Employment Committee. In addition to her professional affiliations, she has served on the Board of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte and as Board President of Asian Immigrant Women Advocates. Ms. Malkani is fluent in English and enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring the Bay Area with her children.
