About Larry A.
Larry A. Apfelbaum built a steady legal path from central Illinois classrooms to multiple courtrooms across the state. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting and Finance from Illinois State University in 1984. Three years later he graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1987. Those academic foundations shaped a practical approach to case work and courtroom procedure.
He practices law at Kanoski & Bresney and has litigated matters in both state and federal venues. He is admitted to the Illinois bar and to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He also holds admission in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois. Those admissions have allowed him to handle appeals and trial-level filings across different judicial settings.
Apfelbaum’s career is defined by courtroom activity and association work. He is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the McLean County Bar Association. He also belongs to the Public Justice Foundation. Those memberships have kept him engaged with fellow litigators and provided forums for continuing legal education and local bar involvement.
At Kanoski & Bresney he has worked out of several of the firm’s Illinois offices. He appears at the Bloomington and Springfield offices and has handled matters tied to the Rushville, Pekin, Champaign, Quincy, Macomb and Decatur locations. Traveling among offices has given him a steady view of how legal issues play out across different communities and court calendars.
Colleagues describe him as practical in the courtroom and methodical in preparation. He tends to favor clear record-building and direct presentation to judges and juries. That approach reflects his undergraduate training in business and finance as much as his law school study. He has handled filings on appeal and contested matters at the trial level, often addressing evidentiary and procedural questions that arise in active litigation.
Outside court dockets, he participates in bar events and educational programs that serve trial lawyers and local practitioners. He keeps current on appellate developments in the Seventh Circuit and on district-level practices in central Illinois. He currently practices at Kanoski & Bresney, working from multiple firm offices and handling litigation in Illinois state and federal courts.
