About Lara R.
Lara R. Leitner built her intellectual foundation at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees—one in anthropology and zoology and another through the Program in the Environment. She went on to earn a J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 2014. Those years combined scientific training and legal study, and left her with a methodical approach to problem solving.
Her early legal work included a variety of internships and research roles. In 2009 she served as a legal research assistant at the University of Michigan Law School. She later spent time with Bet Tzedek Legal Services as a legal intern in 2010. During law school she took on roles that ranged beyond traditional clinics. In 2012 she clerked at the California Department of Justice and also worked as a legal intern for the Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Society, experiences that broadened her exposure to public interest and administrative work.
Records show she held a lawyer position at Aleshire & Wynder in 2013. She returned to private practice again in 2016, joining Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP as a lawyer. Those positions followed a mix of public and nonprofit assignments and reflect a willingness to move between different legal settings. Her résumé shows steady progression from research and internships to full professional roles in California.
