About Lane

Lane Fitzgerald trained at Hamline University School of Law, where he earned his J.D. He remained connected to Hamline’s dispute resolution programs after graduation. That training led to multiple certifications through the Dispute Resolution Institute, including certified arbitrator, certified family mediator/arbitrator, and certified mediator. Those credentials have shaped the way he approaches contested matters and negotiated outcomes.

After law school Fitzgerald established a practice in Wisconsin. He is a current member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and works under that jurisdiction. His professional affiliations include an allied lawyer role with the Alliance Defense Fund and an endowment membership in the National Rifle Association. He also maintains a relationship with the Wisconsin Public Defender’s Office through the Assigned Counsel Division.

Fitzgerald’s career mixes courtroom work and alternative dispute processes. He has served clients in cases that required direct representation and has accepted appointments through the assigned counsel system. At the same time he has handled mediations and arbitrations that drew on his Hamline certifications. That balance gives him experience in resolving matters through trial and through negotiated settlement.

Colleagues describe his practice as pragmatic. He tends to frame options plainly and set realistic expectations for clients. He prepares for hearings and mediations in the same careful way. Preparation includes evidence review, witness planning and written submissions when necessary. He has also worked on cases that tested legal arguments under tight deadlines.

Beyond casework, Fitzgerald engages in the professional communities tied to his work. His continuing membership in the State Bar keeps him tied to local rules and practice standards. His allied status with the Alliance Defense Fund places him among lawyers who handle matters involving religious and civil liberties. His NRA endowment membership signals an interest in firearm law and related public-policy discussions, topics that sometimes intersect with criminal defense practice.

He practices from The Fitzgerald Law Office in Wisconsin. His day-to-day work combines courtroom representation, appointed defense work and alternate dispute resolution services. He currently focuses his practice on criminal defense, family law matters and mediation and arbitration services.
