About Lance Wayne
Lance Wayne Dunford earned his J.D. from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in 2011 after completing a B.A. at Rollins College in 2008. While at Barry, he received a Trial Advocacy Certificate, an early indicator of the courtroom work that would shape his career. He joined the Florida Bar the same year he finished law school and has remained active in the state's legal community since.
Dunford began his post-law school career in public service. In 2012 he served as an Assistant Public Defender in the Office of the Public Defender for Florida’s 20th Judicial Circuit. That work exposed him to a wide range of criminal matters and courtroom practice. Two years later he moved into private practice as a partner at the Law Office Of Scott T. Moorey, where he has worked on criminal defense matters and related proceedings.
His professional credentials include an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and recognition by the National Trial Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40 member in 2016. Client satisfaction awards from both the American Institute of Criminal Law Lawyers and the American Institute of DUI/DWI Lawyers appear among his honors. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, a credential he gained in 2014.
Outside of direct case work, Dunford participates in several legal organizations. He is a member of the Florida Bar and the American Bar Association, and he has been affiliated with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2014. Locally, he joined the Calusa Inns of Court in 2015 and began serving on the Lee County Bar Board of Directors in 2024. His community activities include leadership at the Fort Myers Seventh Day Adventist Church and volunteer service for Special Equestrians, Inc.
Colleagues and clients describe Dunford as a lawyer who spends much of his time in court and preparing for trial. He relocated from public defense into private practice but has maintained an emphasis on litigation and courtroom advocacy. He practices law in Florida and continues to handle criminal defense and DUI/DWI matters as part of his work at the Law Office Of Scott T. Moorey.
