About Lamya A.

Lamya A. Forghany earned her J.D. from the Massachusetts School of Law in 2006 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Alfred University in 2003. She moved from undergraduate study to law school in a compact span, building a foundation in business and then turning to legal training. Those credentials are the backbone of a practice that addresses the intersection of consumer finance and bankruptcy law.

Early in her career she gained experience in matters that touch everyday financial life: consumer debt, creditor relations and bankruptcy filings. Over time she added courtroom experience in federal matters by gaining admission to the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the First and Second Circuits. She is also admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Her professional affiliations include membership in the National Association for Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers, where she is listed as a current member.

Her work tends to center on consumer bankruptcy questions. She handles Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 matters for individuals, addresses creditor claims and counsels clients on options for debt relief. Cases can be procedural and technical. She approaches them with close attention to both statutes and local court rules. That combination of procedural care and plain-language client counseling is a frequent feature of her practice.

Colleagues describe her as someone who prioritizes clarity when explaining options to clients. She lays out possible outcomes and next steps in straightforward terms. That approach helps people understand deadlines and consequences, and it informs decisions about whether to pursue a filing, negotiate with creditors or explore alternatives.

Forghany practices at Forghany Law, P.C., in Andover. There she manages casework that ranges from initial client intake through plan confirmation and discharge proceedings. Her work includes preparing necessary pleadings, representing clients at hearings and coordinating with trustees and opposing counsel when matters advance.

Outside court dockets, she maintains a regular practice rhythm that includes client consultations and case preparation. She continues to participate in the National Association for Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers and remains active in matters that affect consumer-debt practice. Her current practice focuses on consumer bankruptcy and related debt relief matters.
