About Lakota R.
Lakota R. Denton built her legal foundation in New England before establishing a practice in North Carolina. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Keene State College in 2001. She went on to Western New England University School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2011. During law school she earned CALI Excellence for the Future awards in labor law, trial method and jurisprudence.
After law school she connected with the professional community in North Carolina. She has been a member of the North Carolina State Bar Association since 2011 and joined the North Carolina Advocates for Justice in 2012. Those memberships set the stage for courtroom work and trial practice in state courts.
Her early career included a partnership at Minick Law, P.C., beginning in 2013. That role placed her in day-to-day litigation and client advocacy. In 2014 she was recognized by the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40. That same year she received a five out of five rating from Martindale-Hubbell, an independent peer-review service. In 2016 she launched her own firm, Lakota R. Denton, P.A., taking on greater responsibility for case strategy, client intake and firm management.
Denton’s record includes a mix of trial-focused training and practical courtroom experience. Her academic honors in trial method and labor law point toward a practice that engages evidence, procedure and workplace-related legal questions. Her memberships in trial and state bar organizations have kept her active in professional circles and connected to peers who try cases in North Carolina.
Colleagues describe her as someone who prefers clear preparation to flourishes in court. Her work habits emphasize courtroom readiness: careful briefs, thorough discovery and steady hearing preparation. She approaches fact development and legal research in a direct way. That approach shows in her courtroom appearances and in the matters she has taken to trial or contested hearings.
She operates Lakota R. Denton, P.A., where she handles litigation in North Carolina courts and continues involvement in trial-focused professional groups. Her current practice centers on litigation and courtroom advocacy in North Carolina.
