About Kristian Joy

Kristian Joy Barrientes earned her law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2019 after completing a Bachelor of Arts at Texas A&M University–Kingsville in 2015. She moved through law school during a time of rapid change in the courts and legal education. Those formative years shaped the practical approach she brought to her first role after graduation.

Barrientes began her legal career in Texas. In 2020 she joined Janicek Law as an associate attorney. The position placed her in a small firm environment where early responsibility is common. She took on client intake, drafted pleadings, prepared motions and briefs, and assisted in trial preparation. The work required steady attention to procedural detail and regular appearances in state court settings.

Her background combines a regional undergraduate education with a Jesuit legal program known for practical skills training. That training showed up in her day-to-day work at Janicek Law. Colleagues describe her as methodical in legal research and clear in client communications. She handled a range of tasks that supported litigation and case management, and she contributed to courtroom strategy sessions and settlement discussions.

Practicing in Texas has kept Barrientes connected to local rules and court procedures across the state. Since joining Janicek Law Office, PC, she has been part of a team serving individuals and businesses in state-level matters. The firm’s smaller size meant she often moved between drafting documents, client meetings, and courtroom work in a single week. That variety helped build a practical skill set early in her career.

Outside the office, Barrientes remains tied to the legal community in Texas. She maintains professional membership that dates from around the time she joined Janicek Law. That membership provides access to continuing legal education and local professional networks important to early-career attorneys.

Through a steady progression from undergraduate studies in 2015 to a J.D. in 2019 and immediate entry into practice in 2020, Barrientes has built a practice rooted in Texas state courts. She currently practices at Janicek Law Office, PC, where her work centers on representing clients in state matters in Texas.
