About Kristal
Kristal Bowman-Carter earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1996. She completed her legal education during a decade that saw many changes in estate and family law practice. The law degree set a foundation that has informed a steady career in state and federal practice.
After law school she built a practice that spans state lines. She is admitted to practice in Utah and California and is also admitted to the Ninth Circuit. Those credentials allow her to handle matters that touch both state and federal processes, and to appear where appellate filings or federal issues arise.
Bowman-Carter’s professional activity has included sustained involvement in estate planning circles. She has been a member of the Salt Lake Estate Planning Council since 2012. That long-standing membership places her among attorneys who regularly exchange ideas about trusts, wills, probate procedure and related tax considerations.
Her work routinely touches on the documents and procedures that shape how assets are managed and transferred. She drafts wills and trusts, assists clients with advance directives and powers of attorney, and advises on probate and estate administration matters. She also counsels families facing guardianship questions and the practical steps that follow a loved one’s incapacity. The practice requires careful attention to both state rules and the tax consequences that can follow major life events.
Bowman-Carter practices through Bowman-Carter Law, PC. The firm handles client matters that range from straightforward estate documents to contested administration issues. Her litigation experience in state courts, together with the ability to file in federal court when necessary, gives clients options when disputes move beyond negotiation and require formal proceedings.
Colleagues and clients describe her approach as pragmatic. She favors clear explanations over legal jargon and practical plans over theoretical models. That orientation shapes how she prepares documents and how she advises families about the timing and costs of probate and trust administration.
Outside of casework she has remained engaged with peers through the Salt Lake Estate Planning Council. She participates in continuing education and professional exchanges that reflect changes in tax law and state probate procedure.
She practices at Bowman-Carter Law, PC, where her current practice focuses on estate planning, probate administration and related elder law matters.
