About Konrad
Konrad Sherinian combined an engineer's training and a lawyer's license early in his career. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics from Case Western Reserve University in 1989. Years later he returned to the classroom for law and finished a J.D. at The John Marshall Law School in 2003, where he studied intellectual property law. He is admitted to practice in Illinois.
His legal career began in-house at Cook Alex Ltd., where he clerked in 2005 and became an associate the following year. Those early roles put him into the practical side of preparing technical matters for legal review. In 2008 he worked as a lawyer at The Law Offices of Eugene M. Cummings, P.C., handling matters that drew on his technical background. In 2012 he opened his own firm and serves as managing partner of The Law Offices of Konrad Sherinian, LLC.
Sherinian's technical undergraduate training shapes the kinds of matters he accepts. He prepares and prosecutes patent applications and handles patent-related disputes, particularly matters that hinge on electrical engineering, optics, semiconductors and related technologies. He also advises clients on portfolio management and clearance issues. His practice crosses both prosecution and litigation, requiring work in the office and in the courtroom.
Outside daily casework, he has taken part in professional committees. He served as Co-Chair of the Inequitable Conduct Subcommittee of the American Bar Association's Patent Litigation Committee from 2012 to 2013. That role placed him in conversations about litigation conduct and pleadings standards at a time when courts were refining the boundaries of disclosure and professional responsibility in patent cases.
Colleagues describe him as someone who moves easily between technical diagrams and legal briefs. He draws on engineering training when construing claims and when explaining complex systems to judges or juries. His practice style emphasizes careful claim drafting, close attention to office actions and a readiness to litigate when necessary.
He operates The Law Offices of Konrad Sherinian, LLC in Illinois. His caseload includes patent prosecution, enforcement and counseling matters for clients whose work intersects with electrical engineering and applied physics. He currently handles patent prosecution, litigation and related counseling at his firm.
