About Kirby D.
Kirby D. Farris earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Alabama before completing his law degree at Birmingham School of Law in 1994. He entered the legal profession after law school and has since developed a practice that reaches both state and federal forums. He maintains memberships in several statewide and national bar organizations.
Early in his career he built experience in courtroom work and appellate briefing. Over time he added admissions to a number of federal districts and the Eleventh Circuit, enabling him to appear in a wide array of trial and appellate matters. He is admitted to practice before the Alabama Supreme Court and before U.S. District Courts that cover districts in Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Colorado.
The list of jurisdictions where he appears is extensive. It includes the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee; the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama; the Western and Eastern Districts of Arkansas; and the District of Colorado. He is also admitted to the Eleventh Circuit, which covers federal appeals arising from Alabama, Florida and Georgia. That range of admissions has allowed him to take cases beyond state lines and to handle matters that require familiarity with different federal procedures.
Professional organizations form a consistent thread through his career. He holds active memberships in the Alabama Bar Association and the Birmingham Bar Association. He is a member of national groups including the American Bar Association and the American Association for Justice, and he belongs to the Alabama Association for Justice. His membership in the Academy of Rail Labor Lawyers signals involvement in issues that touch on rail and labor law, among other practice areas.
