About Kiamesha-Sylvia

Kiamesha-Sylvia Colom took a steady course into the law, starting with studies in political science and psychology and moving through education to a law degree. She earned a B.A. from Manhattanville College in 1998, followed by an M.S.Ed. from Mercy College in 2002. She completed her J.D. at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2004.

Her early career moved quickly into firm work. In 2007 she served as a litigation associate at Barnes & Thornburg. That role placed her in the midst of firm litigation practice and gave her early exposure to case preparation in a larger firm setting. Two years later she joined Coleman Stevnson & Montel, LLP as a business associate in 2009, adding transactional and business-oriented matters to her resume.

Colom’s background combines classroom experience and law practice. The education degree earned before law school signals an early interest in structured problem solving and systems. The law degree followed that trajectory into legal analysis and courtroom procedure. Those academic steps underpin the practical roles she accepted at two different firms during the first decade of her legal career.

She has been a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association since 2006 and maintains ties to the local bar community. That membership has provided a steady professional connection as she navigated roles in litigation and business practice. It has also kept her engaged with peers in Marion County and the broader Indianapolis legal scene.

Her admitted jurisdictions include the State of Indiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Past titles reflect work in litigation and business matters, showing a range of experience rather than a narrow specialty. Colom’s work history suggests she is comfortable in both courtroom-oriented litigation and the transactional side of firm practice.

Colom currently practices in Indiana and is admitted to appear before the Seventh Circuit. She brings the combined experience of litigation and business practice to the matters she handles, and she continues to work on cases and transactions in those jurisdictions.
