About Kevin
Kevin Leckerman earned his law degree from Widener University in 1994. He is licensed to practice in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. His early years after law school were spent gaining hands-on, courtroom experience at small firms and in public defense.
He began his career in private practice in 1997 at the Law Office of Theresa Peeler, Esq., then moved to Lyons & Lyons, P.C. in 1998. In 1999 he joined the Office of the Bucks County Public Defender. There he served as Senior Deputy Public Defender and ultimately as Co-Chief of the Appellate Division, handling post-conviction and appellate matters for clients in the county. After leaving the public defender's office he returned to private practice as an associate at Levow & Associates, P.A. in 2004.
In 2010 he founded Leckerman Law, LLC and serves as its owner and president. That step put him back in the lead role for client representation and strategy. Running a small firm has allowed him to manage both trial work and appellate filings. It has also provided continuity for clients who need representation across different stages of a case.
Leckerman has pursued training specific to impaired-driving prosecutions. He completed Standardized Field Sobriety Testing instruction through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. He also received training on the Alcotest 7110 MK III-C from Draeger Inc. Those certifications inform his work on cases that involve breath testing and roadside evaluations.
His background includes years inside the courthouse and time spent drafting and arguing appeals. As Co-Chief of the Appellate Division in Bucks County he supervised appellate briefing and oral argument, and handled complex procedural and constitutional questions on behalf of indigent clients. In private practice he has handled trial-level criminal defense matters and cases that require careful review of police procedure and laboratory testing.
Leckerman holds memberships in several bar associations. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, the Bucks County Bar Association, and the Philadelphia Bar Association. He was a member of the National College for DUI Defense from 2006 to 2010.
Clients and colleagues describe him as methodical in his preparation and direct in his courtroom style. He balances trial advocacy with appellate writing, and often works cases through multiple stages of the criminal process. His current practice concentrates on DUI defense and criminal appellate matters.
