About Kevin J.

Kevin J. Palmersheim built a legal career that blends courtroom experience and bar governance. He is steady in public settings and attentive behind the scenes. Colleagues describe a lawyer who moves easily between practice and professional leadership.

He earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1992 after beginning law studies in 1989. The law school years set the foundation for a multidecade practice in Wisconsin.

Soon after completing his degree he entered private practice. Over time he helped establish Palmersheim Dettmann, S.C., where he serves as a founding shareholder and the managing lawyer. He oversees firm operations while handling client matters. Management responsibilities sit alongside casework. That combination has defined his day-to-day role for many years.

Palmersheim has been an active presence in county and state bar circles. He serves on the Dane County Bar Association Board of Directors and has been a past president of that organization. At the Wisconsin State Bar he has held a series of governance and committee roles. His record there includes time on the Board of Governors and leadership of committees devoted to public image, the editorial board and communications, and public education. He has also been a member of the American Inns of Court’s James E. Doyle Chapter since 2011 and has served on the Western District Bar Association Board of Directors since 1997.

Those roles reflect interests beyond litigation alone. He has worked on legal communications and public education efforts. He has overseen editorial work for bar publications and contributed to discussions about the profession’s public presence. His board service on both county and federal district bar bodies shows a long-term engagement with bar governance and the institutional side of the law.

Over the course of his career he has balanced practice management with service to the profession. He continues to lead Palmersheim Dettmann’s operations and to participate in bar leadership. He focuses his current practice on managing the firm and serving the firm’s clients while remaining active in bar association work.
