About Kevin G.
Kevin G. Drendel trained first as a student of literature and then as a lawyer. He earned a Bachelor of Science in English Literature from Cornell College in 1982 before completing his Juris Doctor at Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1991. Those academic years set the stage for a long legal career centered in Illinois.
He began his early legal work in 1989 as a law clerk and associate at Drendel, Schanlaber, Tatnall & McCracken. That role gave him hands-on litigation and transactional experience at the start of his career. By the mid-1990s he was working at what became Drendel & Jansons Law Group. Over time his responsibilities expanded; records indicate he served in positions ranging from associate to managing shareholder while practicing at the firm and its predecessor entities.
Drendel has built a steady presence in local and county legal circles. He has been a member of the Kane County Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service since 1991 and held multiple officer posts within that group, including secretary/treasurer, vice president positions and a term as president in 2003–2004. His long involvement with the Kane County Bar Association also includes service on its Judicial Evaluation Committee beginning in 2016.
Outside the county bar, Drendel’s affiliations reflect a blend of municipal and community interests. He has been a member of the Illinois Municipal League since 1993 and was active in the Illinois Chapter of the National Association of Telecommunications Officials & Advisors as its secretary from 2007 to 2011. His participation on the executive board of Administer Justice began in 2017. He also sits on the board of the Fox Valley Music Foundation and belongs to the Fox Valley Estate Planning Council’s Council of Professional Advisors.
Those associations point to practice areas he has handled over the years. His work has included estate planning and matters related to local government and municipal law, alongside other civil practice areas handled through his firm. He has balanced private practice responsibilities with organizational leadership and community board service.
Today he continues to practice at Drendel & Jansons Law Group in Illinois. His current work centers on estate planning and municipal and local-government matters.
