About Kevin

Kevin Feeney built a steady legal foundation at Westminster College, where he earned a B.A. in 1986, and at Dickinson School of Law, where he received his J.D. in 1990. He entered the profession at the start of the 1990s and moved into courtroom work early in his career.

He began as an associate at Cusick, Madden, Joyce & McKay in 1991. Four years later he launched his own practice, operating as the Law Offices of Kevin Feeney. That period gave him hands-on experience managing a client roster and handling a range of criminal matters in state court.

In 2002 he joined the Berks County Public Defender’s Office as a senior trial lawyer. There he handled serious felony cases and tried matters to verdict. He is Death Penalty Qualified under Pennsylvania Criminal Procedure Rule 801, a credential that reflects training and eligibility to accept capital cases in the state.

Feeney moved back into private practice as a partner in 2008 at the Law Office of Feeney & Gurwitz. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is also admitted to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court. His career spans public defense, solo practice and private firm work, and it has remained centered on trial litigation.

He maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He has been a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 1998 and has belonged to the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 1996. He also holds a current membership in the National College for DUI Defense, reflecting experience in impaired-driving cases and related litigation.

Feeney’s courtroom background includes a steady stream of jury trials and contested hearings. He brings trial experience from county-level public defense into his work at the firm. He handles pretrial work, evidentiary hearings and trial strategy rather than transactional matters.

He currently practices criminal defense at Feeney & Gurwitz, representing clients in DUI matters and serious felony cases, including those where capital exposure is a possibility.
