About Kevin
Kevin Christopher built a legal path that crosses law, science and business. He holds a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law (2010) and pursued additional legal coursework as a visiting student at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco. He later expanded his technical and policy credentials at the University of California, Berkeley, earning certificates in ESG Law (2021) and VC Unlocked (2017). His education also includes studies in energy law at UC Berkeley and work in the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Group at UC Davis. Most recently he completed an MBA at Yale University in 2023.
Early in his career he served in clerkship and government roles. In 2009 he worked as a law clerk in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Civil Division in San Francisco and as a judicial extern in the chambers of Judge Charles R. Breyer. He then moved into university and national laboratory settings, joining UC Berkeley’s Office of Intellectual Property and Industry Research Alliances in 2011 and the Industrial Partnerships Office at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2014. Those positions placed him at the center of technology transfer and institutional contracting.
In 2016 he founded Rockridge Law and has been principal there since. He later launched QUANTiSCOPE in 2022. He holds the Certified Licensing Professional credential from the Licensing Executives Society and maintains memberships in sector groups that reflect both legal and technical interests. Those include the Biotechnology Innovation Organization’s Tech Transfer Committee and the Tennessee Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section, where he serves on the Executive Council. He also participates in the World Economic Forum’s Carbon Credits Working Group and is listed with the Global Association of Impact Lawyers in North America.
Christopher is admitted in Tennessee and the District of Columbia, and he is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His practice sits at the junction of intellectual property, technology transfer, licensing and regulatory issues tied to energy and life sciences. Work at research institutions and a national lab exposed him to patent portfolios, collaborative agreements, and commercialization strategies. His licensing credential complements that project work and informs contract negotiation and portfolio management.
He divides his time between his two firms and maintains Rockridge offices in multiple locations including Salt Lake City, Nashville and Cookeville. He currently splits his practice between QUANTiSCOPE and Rockridge Law, handling patent prosecution before the Patent and Trademark Office, technology transfer and licensing, and legal matters that touch energy, biotechnology and ESG.
