About Kent
Kent Sinson has built a career in the courtroom and the classroom. He arrived in Chicago after studying economics and law, and his path quickly turned toward trial work. He has combined public service, teaching and private practice over more than three decades.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Hamilton College in 1984. He then took his legal degree from DePaul College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1987. Early on he found the practical side of the law compelling. That interest led him to the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in 1988, where he cut his teeth as a trial lawyer.
A few years later he began sharing what he had learned. In 1997 he returned to DePaul as an adjunct instructor, teaching trial advocacy to law students. The classroom work ran alongside his litigation practice. It also shaped how he approached jury trials and courtroom preparation.
In 2000 he opened Sinson Law Group. As owner and lawyer he has overseen the firm's work while continuing to handle trials personally. His experience in a prosecutor's office and in teaching trial techniques informs the way he prepares cases. He focuses on courtroom strategy, witness preparation, and the nuts-and-bolts of presenting fact patterns to juries.
Sinson holds memberships in a range of professional organizations. He is active in the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. He is also involved in several affinity bar groups in the Chicago area, including the Asian-American Bar Association, the Chinese American Bar Association of Greater Chicago, the Korean American Bar Association of Chicago, and the Filipino American Lawyers Association of Chicago. His professional affiliations extend to practice-oriented groups as well, such as the National Employment Lawyers Association and the Advocates Society.
Those memberships reflect both community ties and the substantive areas where he concentrates his practice. His background in public prosecution, his teaching of trial advocacy, and his association memberships have contributed to a practice centered on litigation. He works on employment-related matters and other civil litigation that may require a courtroom-tested approach.
He continues to lead Sinson Law Group, balancing case work and firm management. He handles trial preparation and litigation for individuals and organizations in Illinois, and he maintains an active practice focused on employment and civil litigation matters.
