About Kenny D.
Kenny D. Nguyen trained in two California public universities. He earned a bachelor’s degree at UCLA and then attended the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, where he received his J.D. The education set the stage for work in both prosecution offices and private practice.
Nguyen began his legal career as a senior paralegal in 2012 at a personal injury law office. That early experience in civil claims preceded a series of clerkships that put him inside county prosecutors’ offices. He served as a summer law clerk in the Santa Clara County Office of the District Attorney in 2016. In 2017 he worked in Santa Clara as an honors certified law clerk and also held a certified law clerk position in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office. After passing the bar he took on a post-bar law clerk role at the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office in 2018. In 2019 he became a deputy district lawyer for the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office, where he handled trial matters and courtroom responsibilities for the office.
Those years in public service gave Nguyen frequent courtroom exposure and an understanding of case preparation from the prosecution side. He handled charging decisions, negotiated resolutions and litigated matters at hearings and trials. The sequence of clerk and deputy roles provided practical training on evidence and trial procedure, along with experience managing courtroom calendars and interacting with victims, witnesses and law enforcement.
In 2022 Nguyen left the government setting to found The WIN Law Office. He is listed as a founding partner. The move returned him to private practice and to work directly for individual clients. He has maintained membership in professional groups relevant to criminal work, including the California DUI Lawyers Association and California Lawyers for Criminal Justice. He also holds membership in Lawyers of Distinction.
Colleagues describe Nguyen as a lawyer who learned the adversary process from both sides. His resume ties prosecutorial experience to private representation. That combination informs how he prepares cases and approaches negotiations. He draws on early civil work for an understanding of damage claims and on later prosecutorial duties for trial technique and strategy.
Nguyen practices out of The WIN Law Office. He currently focuses his practice on criminal defense, including DUI cases, drawing on experience from prosecutor’s offices and earlier injury work.
