About Kenneth
Kenneth Kunkle earned his law degree from Hamline University School of Law in 1996. He came into the profession at a moment when intellectual property and entertainment law were expanding alongside new forms of media. That timing has shaped much of his career and interests.
He opened his first solo practice, the Law Office of Kenneth L. Kunkle, in 1996. After several years in private practice he moved into the corporate side of legal publishing. In 2000 he joined Thomson Reuters as a senior product developer in IP and entertainment law, working on content and tools used by practitioners and legal departments. He returned to private practice over time and served of counsel to The Spence Law Office, PLC in 2007. In 2008 he established Kunkle Law, PLC.
Over the years Kunkle has kept one foot in practice and the other in professional circles. He holds memberships in the Minnesota State Bar and the American Bar Association. He is active in intellectual property associations at both the state and national level, including the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association. He has been a member of the International Trademark Association since 2015. Within the Minnesota State Bar Association he has served in leadership roles for the Arts & Entertainment Section, including chair and treasurer.
The combination of practice and product work has given him a practical view of how trademark and entertainment issues play out for clients and for the organizations that support legal work. He handles trademark filings and enforcement, clearance work, licensing questions, and the kinds of counseling that arise for creators and small businesses. His experience in legal publishing informs his approach to research and to drafting documents intended for use in business settings.
Kunkle Trademark and Legal is listed as his current office. He has moved between solo practice and collaborative roles, balancing direct client work with contributions to the profession through association activity. He continues to accept matters in trademark and intellectual property, and he handles entertainment-related legal issues for clients across Minnesota. He currently practices at Kunkle Trademark and Legal, where he handles trademark, intellectual property and entertainment law.
